Clifford Schaeffer

Clifford went home to be with his Lord on Friday, December 26, 2008.

He was born in Kenosha, WI, on August 28, 1920, to Peter G. and Rose (Hetzler) Schaeffer. He attended Mary O. Bradford High School and received his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Marquette University in 1943. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Upon returning from military service he was employed by the J I Case Company. He was a member of the Case 20-Year Club and a fifty-year member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.

In 1947 he was united in marriage to June Nelson, daughter of Sidney and Luella Nelson. They had two sons, Randall and Ronald. They had 23 good years of marriage until her death in 1970. In 1971 he married Florence Stonehouse. They had 32 good years of marriage until her death in 2003.

He is survived by his sons Randy (Sharon) of Racine, Ron of Seattle and step-children Judie West of Florida and Scott (Kris) Stonehouse of New Mexico. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Michele and Brian and six step-grandchildren, Guy, Sara, Andy, Nathan, Adam, and Ryan.

Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Joyce Anderson and Jeanne Wolf; brother-in-law David (Viola) Murphy; niece Claudia (James) Coticchia; nephews, Russell (Annette) Schaeffer, Tony (Carolyn) Simmers, Steven (Sue) Frederiksen, Mark (Marlene) Nelson, Robert (Julie) Wolf; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Stanley and his wife Vivian; sister Alma and her husband James Simmers; sister-in-law Evelyn and her husband Evert Chamberlain; brothers-in-law Everett Nelson, Sidney Nelson and his wife Bette, Stanley Murphy, Daniel Murphy and his wife Dorothy, Gene Murphy; and niece Suzanne Draeger.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 8500 Durand Ave., Sturtevant, with Rev. Jeffrey Mortenson officiating. Internment will follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance or Faith Lutheran Church have been suggested.

Cliff’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Odders, the staff at Harmony House and Hospice Alliance especially Terry, Angie, Joyce, Kathy, Dean, Elaine, Jan, and Doreen for their kind and compassionate care during the past few weeks.
