Mr. Pettit was my son's favorite teacher at Case High School. He was very shocked by the news of his death. Our prayers go out to his wife and children. You were very lucky to have such a kind and gentle man in you life.

Dean was a terrific human, an outstanding teacher, a mentor and a dear friend. He always stopped by to ask how you were doing and was willing to spend the time to listen. He was a deeply thoughtful, very intelligent person who wasn't shy to speak his mind when he felt strongly about something. I am saddened by his passing. We will miss him so very much.

I have been employed at Case High School for a year and a half, I had the pleasure of having several conversations with Mr. Pettit. I have to say that he was the most thoughtful person, obviously very intelligent and very passionate about issues that really mattered. I wish I had known him longer.
