Dorothy L. Rodgers, age 79, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2008, at the Harmony Home. Dorothy was born in Racine on February 10, 1929, daughter of the late John S. and Helen J. (Nee: Szewczyk) Wilhelmi.
Dorothy was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1947.” On May 7, 1949, she was united in marriage to Howard J. Rodgers who preceded her in death, February 25, 1997. She was employed by Massey Harris, Lange’s Pharmacy, and retired from Dr. Thomas Casey’s Dental Office. Dorothy was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. She was a member of the Women’s Golf League at Washington Park and various bridge clubs. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Nancy) Rodgers of Maple Grove, MN, Diane (Harold) Duerkop, Gwen (David) Olsen, all of Racine; her seven grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Rodgers, Angela (Rick) Sadowski, Becky (Curt) Romanowski, Cara, Adam, and Joel Olsen; great-granddaughter, Annika Romanowski; two brothers, Alvin Wilhelmi, Jeffrey (Kris) Wilhelmi; sister, Lillian (James) Dougard; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Jeanette (Robert) Harter of Menominee Falls, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Joan (John) Gottfredsen; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Wilhelmi.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., on Saturday, December 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Private interment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church or Hospice Alliance have been suggested.
