On November 26, 1938, she was united in marriage to Karl F. Klinkhammer, who preceded her in death in 1991. In her earlier years she was employed by Goldblatts for twenty-three years. Bernice was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and St. Sebastian Senior Club. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, camping and feeding and watching birds. More than anything, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.Survivors include her three children, John K. (Patricia) Klinkhammer, Roger M. (Dianne) Klinkhammer, all of Sturtevant, and Carol L. (Doug) Phillips of Florissant, CO; seven grandchildren, Brian (Chris) Klinkhammer, Jeff (Renee) Klinkhammer, Rick (Debby) Klinkhammer, Kurt (Pattie) Klinkhammer, Kevin (Dawn) Klinkhammer, Lisa Wayne and Marc Phillips; 10 great-grandchildren, Lynsie, Allea, Cody, Amy, Austin, Krystal, Kristen, Nicole, Carrie and Cassie; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol Pederson, Betty LaMere and Philip Klinkhammer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother and sisters, Arthur Massmann Jr., Lucille Bassing, Ruth Jannach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3100 95th St., Sturtevant, on Friday, January 2, 2009, at 5 p.m. with Rev. Paul L. Raczynski officiating. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 4 p.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Sebastian Catholic Church have been suggested.
