Sturtevant -- Bernice C. Klinkhammer, age 91, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center. Bernice was born in Milwaukee on April 24, 1917, daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Nee: Eilers) Massmann.
On November 26, 1938, she was united in marriage to Karl F. Klinkhammer, who preceded her in death in 1991. In her earlier years she was employed by Goldblatts for twenty-three years. Bernice was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and St. Sebastian Senior Club. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, camping and feeding and watching birds. More than anything, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her three children, John K. (Patricia) Klinkhammer, Roger M. (Dianne) Klinkhammer, all of Sturtevant, and Carol L. (Doug) Phillips of Florissant, CO; seven grandchildren, Brian (Chris) Klinkhammer, Jeff (Renee) Klinkhammer, Rick (Debby) Klinkhammer, Kurt (Pattie) Klinkhammer, Kevin (Dawn) Klinkhammer, Lisa Wayne and Marc Phillips; 10 great-grandchildren, Lynsie, Allea, Cody, Amy, Austin, Krystal, Kristen, Nicole, Carrie and Cassie; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol Pederson, Betty LaMere and Philip Klinkhammer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother and sisters, Arthur Massmann Jr., Lucille Bassing, Ruth Jannach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3100 95th St., Sturtevant, on Friday, January 2, 2009, at 5 p.m. with Rev. Paul L. Raczynski officiating. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 4 p.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Sebastian Catholic Church have been suggested.
