Ione was born in Racine to the late Fred and Lillian (nee: Jefferson) Anderson on August 4, 1921. She had lived in Midwest City, Oklahoma, for 45 years and lived in Racine for the past 12 years. In Chicago, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Clifford W. Higgins in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1981.Ms. Higgins was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church. She was an avid collector of nick-nacks and artificial flowers. She enjoyed playing cards and loved to read.
Ione is survived by her son, Robert (Diane) Higgins of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Bobby and Billy; her sister, Dolores Adrianson of Racine; one sister-in-law, Connie Anderson of Racine; nieces and nephew, Virginia Janson, Harley Peshek, and especially, Sharen Peshek; other nieces and nephews; and friends. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Fred (Dorothy), and Marvin Anderson; one sister, Jewel (LeRoy) Peshek; one brother-in-law, David Adrianson; and two nephews, Chuck and Lee Peshek.
According to Ms. Higgins' wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be planned in the Spring of 2009. Memorials may be directed to Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
