Robert was self-employed as an architect and most recently as a software engineer specializing in translation software. He was an avid Bears fan. He treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.Survivors include his three children, Aric (Sharon) Ahrens, Justin (Vanessa) Ahrens and Elysia Ahrens; his grandchildren, Alexander Spicer, Molly Ahrens, Megan Ahrens; brothers, Thomas Ahrens and William Ahrens; sister, Mary Beth Chodil; his girlfriend, Lori Gaber; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 2 p.m. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
