Dorothy S. (Van Thiel) Boticki

Dorothy S. Boticki, age 88, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Dorothy was born in Racine on October 17, 1920, daughter of the late Arnold and Lucy (Nee: Hegeman) Van Thiel.

On November 12, 1938, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church she was united in marriage to John P. Boticki who preceded her in death on April 20, 1992. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and belonged to the Christian Women’s Society. She also had been a member of St. Ann & Joechim Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Monica’s Auxiliary, St. Catherine’s Infirmary Auxiliary, and St. Mary’s Auxiliary working in the gift shop. She enjoyed embroidery and playing cards. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her son, John (Constance) Boticki of Racine; her daughter, Lucy Ann Hockett of Castaic, CA; her grandchildren, Debbie (Vic) Salls, Lisa (Steve) Anderson, Richard (Joanne) Kramer, Dr. Michael Boticki (Rachel), Jennifer (Joe) Behringer; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brianna, Benjamin, Brienna, Thomas, Samuel, Nicole and Justin; sister-in-law, Eleanor Sorenson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William and John, and her sister, Geraldine Pheilstifter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Oak Park Assisted Living, nurses at Wheaton Franciscan –All Saints Medical Center, Dr. Brennan, Wheaton-Franciscan Hospice, and Community Care Family Care Program for their loving and compassionate care.
