Angela M. Perrault

Angela M. (nee: Hamell) Perrault, 40, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded with the love of her family, on Saturday, December 13, 2008, following a courageous three-year battle with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer. She received her healing as she was called to her Heavenly Home, by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Angie was born in Racine on July 5, 1968, to David and Mary (nee: Staerzl) Hamell. A 1986 graduate of William Horlick High School, she went on to graduate from UW-Milwaukee School of Nursing in 1991. Angie served those in need in our community as a Registered Nurse at Wheaton Franciscan-St. Mary’s Medical Center, 3rd Floor, until leaving in 2004 to fulfil her lifelong dream of being a full-time Mom.

On August 17, 1991, in Christ Church-United Methodist, Angie was united in marriage with the love of her life, Christopher Robert Perrault.

She was a faithful member of Franksville United Methodist Church. As an award-winning artist, she was involved with the infamous Downtown Racine Bear, Cat and Fish exhibits, raising impressive amounts of charitable funds through the auctioned animals that she designed. Angie was also a custom mural artist, who painted gorgeous wall-art tributes in rooms of family, friends and clients. She also enjoyed decorating her own home, scrap-booking, calligraphy, camping, water-skiing and appreciating the small things in life. Above all, Angie was a passionate Mother who loved being involved at her daughters’ school, John Paul II Academy, especially through Girl Scouts.

Diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer on September 16, 2005, Angie was determined to fight for her life. She became a valued member of the breast cancer survivors “Pink Paddling Power” Dragon Boat team, not only as their logo designer but as a tireless crew member. During her valiant struggle with cancer, which was so inspirational to everyone around her, she continued to treasure every second spent with her family, including numerous memorable vacations.

Surviving are her loving husband of 17 years, Chris; their beautiful daughters, Jennifer Lynn, age 11, and Catherine Marie, age 8; mother and father, Mary and David Hamell; brother, Tony Hamell; grandmother, Doris Hamell; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Patricia and Robert Perrault; brother-in-law, Daniel (Laura) Perrault, MD; niece and nephew, Zoe and Riley Perrault; many special aunts, uncles, other relatives and many, many friends too numerous to mention by name.

Angie was preceded in death by grandparents, Lydia and Arthur Staerzl, and Joseph Hamell,; uncles, Robert Staerzl and Jeff Cowles, and aunt Joyce Staerzl.

Funeral services will be held in Franksville United Methodist Church, 10402 Northwestern Ave., on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kaye Glennon officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and in the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. In memory of Angie, memorials may be directed to the family for the future education of her beloved daughters, Jennifer and Catherine.

A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Michael P. Mullane and Dr. Donald T. Daniels for their compassionate care and overwhelming support; to the John Paul II Academy community, and to all our devoted family members and friends for the many prayers and acts of kindness that were so graciously extended, especially when we needed them most. May God bless all of you!
