Donnie was a man-of-his-word! He lived his own truth and walked his own path. He was a friend to all he met and always assisted his fellow man, in any way he could.A devoted and honorable, hardworking family man – he loved the simple, rustic, down-to-earth life.
He fought and served proudly for his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II (American Theater/Asiatic Pacific Theater.) Donnie never backed down from any of life's challenges.
He will be truly missed by surviving family members – Paul M. Herwig, Gregory W. Galkowski, Diane M. Galkowski and her son, Jason, grandchildren, Nicole and Tommy Herwig, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
